Mini Field Station

The Mini Field Station (MFS) is our own 2 channel data logger. It is an inexpensive option that works perfectly with our Point Dendrometer . It features programmable sampling frequency, WiFi connectivity and redundant, on-board MicroSD card data storage. This logger is in service from the frosty reaches of the Northern Alaskan tundra to the humid understory of equatorial rain forests. Using Lithium Ion batteries, you can expect months of service between field visits. Or, with NiMH batteries, you can utilize the onboard solar charge controller. Q: Does the MFS with WiFi reduce the need for field technicians?
A: Yes, fewer field visits are required.
Q: Can I use other sensors with the Mini Field Station?
A: The MFS is equipped with a 2 channel, 16-bit ADC and can support any analog sensor requiring 3.3V or less.
Q: If I purchase the MFS without WiFi, can I upgrade it later?
A: Yes you can. You only need to purchase the WiFi module and a 1 year subscription to EcoSensorNetwork (ESN), our web-service that hosts your data, to upgrade your Mini Field Station.
Q: There is no WiFi available at my study site, can the Mini Field Station still be used?
A: Yes, the MFS does log all data to the onboard MicroSD card.
Q: How does HSI use data stored on ESN?
A: Simply put, we don’t. We host your data for you to access at your convenience through a web browser. Only you are able to share your data with others.
Q: Is there a warranty?
A: The MFS is guaranteed free from defects for 2 years from the date of purchase.
Q: Can individual components be replaced?
A: All components of the MFS can be purchased for replacement after the warranty period and are shipped with instructions.
